The average price per fnished hour of blended learning is $3,938, and it takes 49 hours to create one hour of learning (on average), reports Brian Chapman, analyst, Chapman Alliance and author of the study. The study also found that its development time is 49:1, meaning it takes 49 hours to create one fnished hour of blended learning (on average). "There also is no standard blend," Chapman observes. "There were 188 different blends, using a variety of delivery formats and integrating new, emerging technologies (such as social, mobile, and informal learning)." Other fndings: >> Creating "new" content can increase your development ratio to 69:1. >> When repurposing existing content (for 60 percent or more of the blended course) the development ratio average drops to 22:1. >> Outsourcing content takes less time than the overall average (31:1), but the cost per fnished hour goes up by an additional $1,158 per fnished hour (vendor markup). >> Shorter blended courses (less than one day in duration) increase the development ratio average (81:1). >> The longer the course, the more effcient the development ratio becomes. —Source: www.chapmanalliance.com "Hyperconnectivity" is a new watch word in the consumer technology world. An integrated, private-branded shopping cart enables online payment and course enrollment by individuals via credit card. The site owner can enable promotion codes and subscriptions with automatic recurring charges. e-commerce transactions include bulk purchase of multiple course seats via purchase order or charge card. Seat assignment can be controlled by the site owner or by customer enterprise registrars. Credo has acquired ONLINE TUTORSOLUTIONS.COM, which will signifcantly enhance its fagship Literati solutions with technologies that connect students to on-staff, state-certifed tutors at their point of need. The acquisition furthers Credo's mission to work with libraries, educators, publishers and technology providers to create a society in which everyone has the ability to learn and an opportunity to succeed.
