Today's Innovators Are At Work Around Us -MEET THE 2012 LEARNING! 100
T
he 2012 Learning! 100 organizations all share one common view-they see challenges as opportunities to innovate. Inside this edition, we are honored to share the top 100 organ- izations that collaborate and innovate within a learning culture that bears top perform- ance. These organizations were honored at the Enterprise Learning! Summit in
Alexandria, Virginia this spring. They come from large, multinational companies, government agen- cies, not-for-profit agencies, and small firms. What the Learning! 100 award winners have in common is innovation. You can learn more about them in the feature on page 16. Organizations of all kinds are embracing innovation as the economy improves. They are "Surviving
and Thriving" by finding ways to do more with fewer resources. By adjusting their priorities, reorgan- izing their existing materials, and embracing informal learning, social networks, and virtual learning environments, development professionals are finding creative ways to train and develop talent. Read some tips and tricks you can use in your organization in the story on page 34. The advent of Learning 2.0 is also bringing a range of new tools into learning strategies, including
wikis, blogs, mobile devices, video editors, and online communities of interest. These require new management techniques and ways of measuring impact. To learn more about measuring the impact of Learning 2.0, read our story on page 38. Creative changes born during hard times are seldom abandoned when they work. Josh Bersin,
President and CEO of the research firm Bersin & Associates, said that once the economy recovers, most companies will keep the new programs and technologies that work for them. Learn more about Bersin's insights in our interview on page 14. Ultimately, these innovations will become the building blocks for a future that cannot now be imag-
ined. This is what makes this field so exciting to cover. Together, we all have the opportunity to see the future of learning technologies and strategies unfold … and it will lead us to innovation.
